Janey Shipman is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders by prescribing medications and providing psychotherapy.
Psychology has always been one of Janey’s primary interests. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University while also earning an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Hocking College. She enjoyed her role as a nursing assistant on a geriatric psychiatric unit while earning her registered nursing license. She then worked as a psychiatric registered nurse with patients of all ages while earning her Master of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. Before starting at Providers for Healthy Living, Janey worked as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with underserved communities in Columbus. She was also in the Army Reserves for 6 years with one deployment to Afghanistan. Her varied experiences allow her to empathize with each person she meets. Janey practices evidence-based mental health care and encourages patients to also participate in evidence-based therapies. She enjoys partnering with patients in their personal journeys toward wellness. She believes it is important that each patient is given the opportunity to make informed decisions about their own healthcare. Janey is licensed by The Ohio Board of Nursing. Her license can be verified on this website: https://elicense.ohio.gov. |
